Dermal Needling by Dr. Face
Your Skin’s Own Healing Power at Work
Dermal needling — also called skin needling, micro-needling therapy or collagen induction therapy — is a minimally invasive, nonsurgical and nonablative procedure for facial rejuvenation that uses a specialized device to create a controlled minor skin injury.
When a fine needle punctures the skin, it creates a micro-wound. This controlled injury triggers the body to produce new collagen and elastin — giving skin its plump, youthful texture and glow. It also creates new capillaries and reduces the appearance of scars, while improving skin smoothness, tightness and hydration.
Professional dermal needling is among the safest skin treatments available. Compared with chemical peels, dermabrasion or laser, it causes the least damage to your skin — making it ideal for a wide range of skin types and tones.
Minimally Invasive
Nonsurgical and nonablative — no cutting, no laser heat damage, minimal impact on the skin’s surface.
Stimulates Natural Collagen
Triggers your body’s own healing response to produce new collagen, elastin and capillaries.
Safe on All Skin Types
Safe on dark skin tones with reduced risk of hyperpigmentation — works where peels and lasers can’t.
Minimal Downtime
Resume regular activities within a few days, based on the needle penetration depth used.
What It Treats

01How It Works
How PRP Dermal Needling Works
When a specialized micro-needling device creates fine punctures in the skin, it produces micro-wounds. These controlled injuries trigger the body’s natural healing response — stimulating new collagen, elastin and capillaries, which gives skin its renewed plumpness, texture and youthful glow.
We use state-of-the-art COSMOPen micro-needling technology, which delivers the same quality results as a fractional laser — without the downtime, expense, pain or thermal damage. COSMOPen vertically pierces the skin at a precise depth, inducing collagen production and targeting pigmentation. Because it doesn’t damage the epidermis, the treatment can be safely repeated for ongoing improvement.
Unlike chemical peels, dermabrasion or laser resurfacing, PRP dermal needling causes the least damage to your skin — an excellent option for thin, sensitive skin and areas where other treatments can’t safely be performed.
1
Consultation & Skin Assessment
Our RN assesses your skin, discusses your concerns and determines the appropriate needle depth and protocol for your goals and skin type.
2
Skin Preparation
A topical numbing cream is applied for comfort. The skin is cleansed and prepared for the procedure.
3
COSMOPen Micro-Needling
The COSMOPen device is guided across the skin, creating thousands of precise vertical micro-channels — triggering collagen induction without thermal damage.
4
PRP Application
Platelet-Rich Plasma, derived from a small sample of your own blood processed in a centrifuge, is applied to the micro-channels — delivering concentrated growth factors to accelerate healing and collagen production.
5
Healing & Results
Increased collagen production begins within 48–72 hours. Noticeable improvement appears within about four weeks, with new collagen lasting several years.
02Benefits
Your Benefits of Dermal Needling
Dermal needling offers a wide range of advantages over more invasive resurfacing treatments, which often cause considerable skin damage and require much longer recovery. It creates no visible demarcation line between treated and untreated skin — ideal for targeting specific scarring without blending across the whole face. And the new collagen created can last several years.
Reduced risk of hyperpigmentation and scarring — safe on dark skin tones
Corrects sunken acne and chicken pox scars, fine lines and discoloration
Works safely on thin, sensitive skin types
Performed in-office without expensive equipment or extensive downtime
Well-tolerated and accepted by patients
Cost-effective compared to laser resurfacing treatments
Treats skin areas not suitable for peels or laser resurfacing
Does not damage the epidermis — can be safely repeated
No demarcation line between treated and untreated skin
Treats specific scarring areas without needing to blend edges
Patient can resume regular activities within a few days
03Comparison
COSMOPen Needling vs. Other Skin Treatments
COSMOPen micro-needling delivers the benefits of fractional laser technology — without the associated risks, pain and recovery time.
COSMOPen Micro-Needling. Vertical micro-channels only — no thermal damage. Safe on all skin tones, minimal downtime, no demarcation lines, repeatable, works on sensitive/thin skin, cost-effective, stimulates collagen naturally.
Laser Resurfacing. Uses thermal heat energy — risk of burns and hyperpigmentation on darker skin. Longer downtime, possible demarcation, higher cost, not suitable for all skin types or sensitive areas.
Dermabrasion / Chemical Peels. Abrade or chemically remove outer layers — more surface damage, significant downtime and redness, pigmentation risk on darker skin, not for thin/sensitive skin, hard to treat isolated scars.

04Aftercare
After Your PRP Dermal Needling Treatment
PRP dermal needling is well-tolerated and requires very little recovery. Because the treatment doesn’t damage the epidermis, healing is quick and the skin’s surface integrity is maintained. Some patients experience mild redness, warmth or sensitivity for 24–48 hours — similar to a mild sunburn — which is a normal part of the healing and collagen-induction response and subsides quickly. Results build progressively as new collagen is produced over the following weeks; a series of treatments may be recommended, and because the procedure is safe to repeat, you can maintain and build on your results over time.
Sun ProtectionApply SPF and avoid direct sun for at least 24–48 hours following treatment. Keep Skin HydratedUse a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to support healing and the skin barrier. Gentle Cleansing OnlyAvoid harsh skincare products, exfoliants or retinols for a few days post-treatment. Series of TreatmentsMultiple sessions may be recommended for optimal, long-lasting collagen-building results.
